Phoenix in the changing retail landscape

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. successfully completed its first half performance in 2022 with 10 newly opened outlets across strategic locations in National Capital Region, Cebu, Davao, Bukidnon, and the islands of Palawan and Zamboanga.

In total, it currently operates close to 700 retail stations nationwide.

The country’s third largest oil brand continues to strengthen innovations across its brands on top of its gas stations, such as Phoenix SUPER LPG, Autoworx Plus, FamilyMart convenience store, POSIBLE digital payments, and LIMITLESS digital transactions.

Phoenix balances traditional and emerging trends with its newest retail concept called the Phoenix Block.

Launched in 2021 at Sucat Skyway and Evangelista, Makati City, Phoenix Block is a new station format that features all its businesses (Phoenix brands) and other complementary brands within one complex.

Phoenix, being a tech-driven company, officially launched in June 2020 its LIMITLESS mobile app, a digital lifestyle rewards program that incentivizes its registered members through earning and redeeming points using the Peso-point system, getting discounts, and deals from non-expiring e-vouchers.

The recent partnership with e-Tap Solutions is set out this year to provide customers more access and convenience to a wider range of payment options by installing new machines at 70 FamilyMart stores and Phoenix gas stations.

Cebu Pacific ramps up int’l flight network

Cebu Pacific is adding more flights to two of its top Asean destinations, namely Bangkok and Bali.

Beginning August 29, CEB will fly daily from Manila to Bangkok, coming from its current five-times-a-week frequency. By September, flights from Manila to Bali will also increase from thrice to five times weekly.

The airline also intends to restart its Manila-Brunei flights by September 1, starting with a twice weekly frequency.

Apart from this, the airline also intends to increase its flights from Cebu to Seoul from twice weekly to daily service by September 9. On September 23, flights to Nagoya from Manila will be daily from its current five times weekly.

By October 1, CEB’s Bali flights will increase to a daily service, while its flights to Hanoi and Taipei from Manila will both have one additional flight per week – from three times to four-times-a-week for Hanoi, and twice to thrice weekly for Taipei.

GMA Network appointment

The executive committee of GMA Network Inc. has elected Annette Gozon-Valdes on August 17 as its new senior vice president effective September 1.

Gozon-Valdes will oversee the Talent Management and Development, Program Management, Human Resources and Legal departments; Worldwide Division; and some subsidiaries in the Kapuso Network.

Valdes has been a director of GMA since 2000 and currently the programming consultant to the chairman/CEO of GMA Network,

Valdes graduated cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University and obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines where she graduated valedictorian and cum laude. She later obtained her Master of Laws from Harvard University.

Top Women in Security awardee Asean

Charmaine Rose Valmonte, Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV) chief information security officer (CISO), was recognized in the Top Women in Security Asean Region – Security Trainer and Educator.

The award is part of the Top Women in Security initiative of the global Women in Security and Resilience Alliance which promotes women in the security technology industry.

The future of mental health

Upskilling young tech talent

Shopee Philippines is holding its first-ever Ulitmate Case Challenge, a business case competition open to Filipino undergraduate students from across the globe.

The regional business case competition has garnered over 4,000 participants across four other markets including Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

Finalists of the competition will get the chance to win up to P50,000 and have the chance to receive a mentorship program from leaders of Shopee through GLP.

The competition is open to Filipino undergraduate students from across the globe. Each team consisting of 3 to 4 members will be asked to pitch their own unique ideas and solutions to a real-world challenge included in a business case brief.

Asticom Group launches cadetship program

Asticom Group of Companies has launched a cadetship program with coding boot camp KodeGo to help aspiring young professionals develop their skills and carve out careers in information technology and engineering.

Through the program AstiELEVATE, Asticom and KodeGo can assist in the professional development of fresh graduates and career shifters as well as provide them much-needed exposure in their chosen fields for increased employability.

Back-to-back win

PAGEONE Group bested other agencies to win the most coveted Agency of the Year (AOY) Award at the recently concluded 19th Philippine Quill Awards of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines.
